UK court tells service providers: Block Pirate Bay

LONDON (AP) — Britain's main music industry association says a judge has ordered Internet service providers to block file-sharing website The Pirate Bay.

The BPI says a High Court judge has told Sky, Everything Everywhere, TalkTalk, O2 and Virgin Media to prevent access to the Swedish site, which helps millions of people download copyrighted music, movies and computer games.

The BPI says justice Richard Arnold has ordered the service providers to block the site within the next few weeks.

Another provider, BT, has been given several weeks to consider its position, but the BPI said it expected BT would also block the site.

Monday's announcement follows a February ruling by the same judge that both the operators and users of The Pirate Bay infringe on the copyright of music companies.
