Rovio's latest Angry Birds extension, Angry Birds in Space is a certified stratospheric hit, logging 50 million downloads in 35 days, the company announced on Monday.
The game's performance broke all Rovio's previous records and may have set a record for mobile game adoption in general, according to Rovio. "There's only one conclusion to draw: something even bigger is on its way!" the company wrote on its blog. "Stay tuned and keep flinging those Birds!"

Rovio's claim about Space breaking the record for mobile downloads appears to be valid. The previous holder of the title, OMGPOP's Draw Something, hit the 50 million mark in 50 days earlier this month and was declared the "fastest-growing original mobile game of all time."

Meanwhile, the original Angry Birds game, released in 2009, topped 500 million downloads in November and surpassed 700 million downloads earlier this year.
