After Facebook launched Timeline for brand pages on Wednesday morning, a feature not mentioned in any of the company's marketing materials briefly appeared on them: a menu item titled "add to interest lists."

The option quickly disappeared from pages, but it left speculators wondering if Facebook might be plotting a way for users to opt-in to brand messages or even some sort of discovery engine.
