Everybody loves the smell of bacon, right? And everyone hates the odor of kitty litter. So, Clorox put two and two together -- and got bacon-scented Fresh Step.
As this video demonstrates, the local news is already on to this story. Moira Langford, Fresh Step's VP of consumer research, tells the news team the company tested lilies, pine and lavender before settling on bacon. A test revealed the technology worked, right down to the "urine-activated sizzle sound."

Clorox is clearly sold on bacon and has also added the scent to Greenworks, its eco-friendly cleaning products line. A new ad for that cleaning product, enhanced with "the delicious scent of bacon," that leave your skin feeling "piglet soft" has also just hit YouTube. (See below.)
Before you run out to the supermarket, though, you might want to check the date.

Yes, in case you haven't guessed, this video, created by Conscious Minds in Los Angeles, is an early April Fool's prank -- albeit one created with Clorox's consent.
The idea of a brand punking itself may sound odd, but Clorox isn't the first to do so. K-Swiss paid Danny McBride good money to embody Kenny Powers and insult the brand and its putative owners.
GE, meanwhile, tried to convince consumers that there was a protest brewing about socks that went missing in washing machines.
Then again, maybe Clorox isn't trying to be meta here. Maybe someone there just really loves bacon.
