This stunning satellite photo from NASA shows what is now Hurricane Issac as it traveled through the Gulf of Mexico towards the Louisiana coastline as a tropical storm.

The image was produced by the Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) “day-night band,” which is able to snap images in extreme low light situations. In this photo, the clouds of Isaac were lit only by moonlight.
