SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google co-founder Sergey Brin is the high-ranking executive who appeared before computer programmers at a conference in San Francisco.
As previously disclosed, CEO Larry Page didn't speak to the audience because he recently lost his voice. He has an unspecified health problem. Google didn't reveal ahead of time who would take his place.
Most of Wednesday's keynote to open the three-day Google I/O conference was conducted by lower-level executives.
But Brin interrupted a presentation on its Google Plus social network, even though that's a priority for the company. He told the audience he had something time-sensitive. Moments later, parachutists jumped out of a blimp above San Francisco as part of a demonstration of futuristic, Internet-connected glasses called Project Glass.
