BANGKOK (AP) — Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi is bullish on democratic reform, but not so sure about Facebook.
Suu Kyi was asked Friday at the World Economic Forum on East Asia in Bangkok when she would join the 900-million member social network.
She said it was not a technological issue, but a matter of finding the time. She said she will join when her schedule opens up. But she said if Facebook falls out of fashion, she won't bother.
Suu Kyi was under house arrest as a political prisoner for much of the period from 1989-2010, without even a telephone most of the time. Her countrymen with Internet connections were blocked by a government firewall from accessing many sites, but a reformist elected regime last year eased most restrictions.
