MLB All-Star Game Already a Social Media Home Run







The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is currently making quite the splash on social media.

According to the MLB, more than 290,000 social media comments were tracked over the course of the 1st inning. This total, they say, is more than the amount that was accumulated during the entire All-Star Game in 2011.


There are likely several reasons behing the increase in mentions. Besides the rise of social media adoption in general, many more have gained robust social media followings. An increased social media presence during Monday night's likely also played a role.


During the game's TV broadcast, San Fransisco Giants pitcher and National League starting pitcher Matt Cain was shown tweeting this from a computer in the dugout:
