Oprah Facebook Game Wants You to Thank the World

Oprah launched a Facebook app Monday -- as part of an effort to thank every person in the world, no less, for contributing something to someone's life.

The premise is simple: Thank just one person you know, then click the "I Said Thank You" button at Oprah.com or via Oprah's Facebook page.

Thanks to heat map technology -- also displayed via the app on Facebook -- the "thank yous" will be tracked and shared across the U.S. and in other countries.

Oprah's goal: to thank everyone in the U.S. and then Canada before reaching the rest of the world. "Join me, we are going to see how one thank you can change the world," Oprah said in a YouTube video promoting the game.

"All you have to do is thank someone -- anyone you know."

Oprah notes in the clip that gratitude changes the brain and allows you to better see the good in others.

"Your gratitude is contagious," Oprah says. "Every one 'thank you' extends to six people you know, and then it spreads to six people they know. Your one thank you touches 258 people -- all because you touched one person."

Although Oprah may have retired from her daytime talk show nearly a year ago, she is still connecting with fans through her latest Oprah's Lifeclass series airing on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. Oprah’s Lifeclass -- which is in its second season, airing on Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT -- features various motivational speakers and guests who aim to help viewers overcome challenges.

It also incorporates social media and interactivity into every episode across various platforms -- such as Facebook, Twitter, Skype and Instagram. Oprah encourages viewers at home and in the audience to live tweet responses to the topics mentioned on the show and then discusses them in real-time with her guests.

How far around the world do you think Oprah's "thank you" effort will spread? Let us know in the comments.
