If you don’t have the budget to visit the Moon, we suppose making a video of it is the next best thing

Do you "dream big science?" NASA does, and to prove it, the space agency has released Pursuit of Light, its latest video.

The six-minute movie shows a number of scientific clips, including time-lapse shots of Earth from orbit, video showing the motion of clouds, and a segment that makes it feel like you're about to land on the Moon. Interspersed amongst those clips are shorter clips of action on Earth, from a city street to a mountain lake. Those bits can feel like filler, but the space segments are — forgive the pun — out of this world.

The description on the video's YouTube page pulls at our heartstrings a bit: "The Space Shuttles may be gathering dust, but we're not staying on Earth!" I think we'd all rather see NASA's budget go towards dusting off those rockets and visiting foreign planets, but in the meantime, a steady stream of eye candy from space will have to hold us over.
