Years of rumors finally come true as Tamriel springs to life online
MMOs are already well known for their addictive nature, but if there is one video game franchise that can mimic the feeling of playing alongside other human beings without actually doing so, it's The Elder Scrolls. Now, the sprawling fictional lands of the series are making the jump online, and the combination may just be too much to resist.
Game Informer just revealed The Elder Scrolls Online as its June cover story, along with a few more details regarding the game and what players can expect when taking a virtual jaunt to the lands of Tamriel. Elder Scrolls Online takes place approximately 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim, and will fill in some details on the land's history and conflicts never before seen in an Elder Scrolls game.
We're not shy about our love for Elder Scrolls series, especially Skyrim — the fifth and most recent title in the epic Elder Scrolls saga — so the idea of revisiting its snowy peaks and dark caverns with a team of like-minded buddies at our side is almost too much to handle. Add trips to every other Tamriel province, an evil deadric prince as a protagonist, and support for both Windows and Mac operating systems, and the recipe for endless hours of play seems complete. The game is currently slated for a 2013 release.
