Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz wants Twitter users to write the plotlines to his "The Woman I Love" music video, which he'll premiere on Twitter this fall. Fans' Twitter usernames will be shown at the end of the video.

"It's an idea that's never been done before in terms of fan-sourcing on Twitter," Thanh Nguyen, digital marketer at Mraz's label, Atlantic Records, tells Mashable. "This gives them a chance to participate in the creative process with the artist and see their tweets transform into art."

Fans can send tweet their ideas to @Jason_Mraz with the hashtag #MrazingTheVideo from July 30 to Aug. 6. Mraz encourages people to answer the question, "What does 'The Woman I Love' mean to you?"

A director will then take the best ideas and create a storyboard that will inspire the music video.

Mraz, who will appear on E!'s Opening Act on Monday and Conan on Wednesday, plans to keep fans in the loop until the video's premiere with photos and tweets.

The song is from his recently released Love Is a Four Letter Word album, which has sold nearly 2 million copies since April and peaked at number two on Billboard's Hot 200 top-selling albums list. Mraz embarks on a two-month concert tour Aug. 7.

Do you think this approach to creating a music video is a clever way to tap into the social media generation?
